BIOMECHANICAL EXAMINATION – £70
Analysing gait and measuring a joint’s range of motion can give us an insight into common foot problems that present as pain. Biomechanics can be used to treat a variety of pathologies that may be found in anyone from children through to the elderly, from the weekend athlete to the high end professional alike. This is often achieved by using special devices (orthotics) that are inserted into the shoe.
The biomechanical examinations we offer at the DPC have been further improved with the introduction of a GaitScan Forceplate. This equipment helps ensure even the slightest imperfections in a persons gait will be highlighted. These same imperfections can often be missed through routine examinations. more information on the GaitScan forceplate can be found below.
GAITSCAN FORCEPLATE TECHNOLOGY: (Included in biomechanical examination)
Our practice is one of very few in the UK that owns Gaitscan technology. This specialised equipment consists of an electronic pressure plate which can identify biomechanical problems that are less obvious through routine examination. We use the Gaitscan as well as our thorough biomechanical examination to ensure extremely accurate results.
SWIFT MICROWAVE THERAPY
A package of three treatments for £250, each treatment thereafter is £30.
Swift Microwave Therapy uses thermal energy to treat skin lesions. The Swift Microwave generator creates precise, localised cell destruction and this has already proven to be highly effective at treating even the most stubborn verrucae. Based on a recent study the preliminary results of which are showing outcomes which are very exciting, it takes on average three treatments to get resolution. From the patient’s perspective microwave therapy has many benefits. In particular the treatment lasts roughly 5 seconds and there are no dressings to worry about, no foot to keep dry and no weekly or twice weekly appointments to attend as is often the case with more conventional treatments.
We take pride in doing a simple job well. We cover all aspects of foot health care from nail cuts to callus reduction, padding and strapping.
Emergency Nail Treatment
At Dunfermline Podiatry Centre, we offer emergency nail and skin treatments. We can treat a wide range of foot problems and conditions.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in cartilage. Injecting hyaluronic acid into certain joints can help with arthritic pain and a number of other problems.
Injectable steroids can be given for soft tissue conditions (e.g. neuromas) or into the joint for arthritic problems.
£60 – £240
First of all orthotics are NOT arch supports. What they are are medical devices with a prescription designed to control abnormal motion. At this practice they are only supplied after a thorough biomechanical examination.
Initial consultation £35 – Follow-Up £10
Caused by a viral infection, warts can often be left alone, when they become painful, unsightly or spread they can be treated. We can offer patients the most up-to-date technology used in the treatment of verrucae.
Most nail problems can be treated conservatively but there is a proportion that will need to be treated surgically under local anaesthetic. We have an extremely good track record of successful nail surgeries.
